Who is she?
Who is she?
She sings in the car. She is beautiful. She is a servant. She is smart. She will cry during an oreo cookie commercial. She has more faith than anyone I know. She used to put prayer requests on post-its and put them on the window in the kitchen. She has written musicals. She knows something about everything. She is a great cake decorater. She is very compassionate. She is afraid of heights. She is an amazing trained vocalist. She will fly all the way across the country in a second to help you out. She has never doubted the Lord. She is a hopeless romantic. She is taking a Greek class. She is sensitive. She knows the Bible. She has directed choirs. She will cry during a Hallmark commercial. She has mothered 3 children. She makes killer enchaladas. She acts like strangers are her friends. She acts like friends are her family. She has a heart for missions. She's not afraid of spiders. She loves The Notebook. She laughs at your jokes. Ive witnessed her pee her pants from laughing too hard. She knows how to worship God. She likes to debate. She is a woman of prayer. She always tells the lady at the toll booth, "Have a great day!" She will encourage you. She'll clean your house for you. She has 6 grandchildren. She loves everybody. She is a great writer. She used to take care of the handicap. She can sew anything. She makes the tastiest Christmas squares. She sponsers children overseas. She nicknames all of her grandchildren. She will take care of you when you are sick. She will believe for you when you can't believe for yourself. She will cry with you because apparently she has no shortage of tears. She knows how to forgive. She is loyal. She is kind. Who is she?
She is my Mom.
Happy Mothers Day, Mom.

My cigarette.
The lyrics to a popular song by The Fray were used one morning at our church. The lyrics were, " I found God on the corner of 1st and Amistad ... smoking his last cigarette." Our pastor apologized for the implication that God would smoke a cigarette. Probably a good idea considering that the image might offend some folks. I know of one person off the top of my head that it does offend. What if He were eating his last big mac or drinking his last can of coke? Would this be less offensive? The answer is ... yes, it would be less offensive. Maybe not to you but to alot of people. My question is - Why?
As many of you know, my husband and I just took a trip to Europe with some friends. While in Paris, Tabitha and I decided to buy a pack of slim French cigarettes and smoke them while having our French dinner because, well, it seamed like the French think to do. I do not smoke. I have had a cigarette here or there. The total probably being somewhere like 2 or 3 a year. When we arrived home I decided not to put any of the smoking pictures on facebook because I thought it might bother some folks. I also asked Mike Clinton not to tag me in any smoking pics that he might have. His reply was, "Dont worry. I wouldn't do that. I know people always view smoking as worse than alot of other things."
Some possible answers are:
Smoking is extremely bad for your health.
Smoking is addictive.
I think that smoking cigarettes is extremely bad for your health and extremely addictive which is why I dont smoke ( regularly). I also think eating fast food on a regualar basis is bad for your health and addictive which why I dont eat fast food (regularly). I also think that drinking cola is extremely bad for your health and addictive which is why I dont drink cola ( ever, I think its gross). And at the rate this nation is going, I think that more people are dying as a result of the food and drink that they are consuming than anything else. The number one cause of death in the U.S. in 2008 was heart disease. The obesity rates in the U.S. have gone from 15% in 1980 to 35% in 2008. The state of Colorado being the only state under 20%. The health risks of obesity are : high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnia, gout, gallbladder disease, esophageal reflux, gallstones, many different types of cancer, fatty liver disease. So, I ask my same question. Why is it more offensive to see a christian smoking a cigarette?

Did God Create Time?
disclaimer: The views expressed in this particular blog may not necessarily be the views of the person expressing them. They are just thoughts floating around in my head.
Did God create time? Most Christians would answer this with a resounding ,"Yes, God created everything!" Most Christians would also say that God is not bound or limited by time and He is transcending it. They would also say that He is "in time" with us as well. Obviously in order for Him to interact with us in real time He would have to be "in time" with us. No arguement so far.
The definition of time is the system of those sequential relations that any event has to any other, as past, present, or future; indefinite and continuous duration regarded as that in which events succeed one another. So for God to cause something to happen or create something (anything)it shows sequence of events and therefore shows "time." In order for God to create the earth, time had to have allready existed becuase the earth wasnt there before and then it was. This shows progression or sequence - time. I have heard many people say, "God created time before He created the earth." Really? In order for a creation of any kind to take place, time must exist first. How then is possible to create time. For time to be created it had to have not existed before and then exist. This however shows sequence and progression and ...time. So, God could not have created time. It had to have allready existed. The only logical conclusion is that time has always been there with God. God , however is the only thing that has always existed. So, is time one of Gods atributes like love is? God is love...God is time? Huh? (I know its strange. I have never heard anyone else say this so I'm ready to be blasted)
Here is another reason why God could not have created time from a logical standpoint.
God is omnipresent. Most Christians define omnipresence as : In every place and every time. Most Christians would also say that this is one of Gods attributes along with omniscience and love and they would say that He has always been these things. God is the same yesturday, today and forever. Ok, If God has always been omnipresent then he has always been in every place and every time. Let me repeat - He has always been in every time. If He has always been in every time, there was no need for Him to create it. It always was. If it always was, then it must be a part of God.
The other possible conclusions are: God hasnt always been omnipresent ( we know thats not true) or Omnipresent doesnt mean - in all times.
